Trailers parked near private property are starting to become a nuisance according to homeowners. Imagine paying the bills for utilities, trash, and property tax only to walk out of your home and see trailers parked beside your house with no consequence. Trailers have been parked all over Los Angeles ever since the pandemic. Many homeowners have been patient, but enough is enough.

“I have trouble sleeping with their loud generators turned on all night. We’ve tried going through the LADOT and even went as far as emailing the councilman for Granada Hills. The councilman placed NO OVERNIGHT PARKING signs around the area, but the trailers haven’t moved at all and every year I must pay property tax for this bs.” – Gary Paul Rolda-Homeowner.

According to homeowners, the LADOT has not been doing their jobs well enough to deter trailers from parking beside residential homes. On San Fernando Mission Blvd in the city of Granada Hills, CA, there are even trailers parked in NO OVERNIGHT PARKING zones with no one enforcing the law. The owner of Saticoy Nursery is losing business because there is no parking for his customers.

As Angelinos, we understand that the pandemic caused many problems for lower to middle class families, but there are designated areas for these trailers. The once peaceful street of San Fernando Mission Blvd and Lindley have become riddled with trash from old, dilapidated trailers, and the city is doing nothing about it. This trash is becoming a nuisance because it attracts rodents, cayotes, and insects that could eventually enter private property. But nevertheless, property tax still needs to be paid, but for what? Where does all that money go?

“Why should we pay money to park our trailer when we can just park it on the street. I don’t give a damn about parking tickets, and no one will tow this huge trailer.” – trailer owner.
